Pursuit of Excellence in the Assessment and Recognition of Learning

The MPLAN PEARL Award acknowledges the Pursuit of Excellence in the Assessment and Recognition of Learning. The award or awards are made to an organization, program, or project. Any MPLAN member can nominate an organization and the organization does not have to be an MPLAN member. There is no predetermined number of awards made in any given year and the Award recipients will be recognized at the MPLAN Annual General Meeting.

The award is given for Excellence in PLAR in Manitoba based on the following criteria:

  • Commitment and promotion of PLAR
  • Involvement in PLAR community
  • Results achieved
  • The developmental nature/value of the work
  • Lasting benefits of the work, or potential for lasting benefits
  • Impact on the learner, the broader community and systems
  • Innovation
  • Sharing of expertise, research, resources
  • Leadership
  • Influencing systems and/or government policy

2010 marks the eighth year of MPLAN’s PEARL awards.

Nominate a PEARL Award Winner

It’s not too early to start thinking about nominating an organization, program or project for the PEARL Award!

The MPLAN “PEARL” Award acknowledges the Pursuit of Excellence in the Assessment and Recognition of Learning. Award recipients will be recognized at the MPLAN Annual General Meeting in March.

Terms of Award

  1. The award (s) is made to an organization, program, or project. It is not an award for an individual.
  2. An organization that is being nominated does not have to be an MPLAN member.
  3. Any MPLAN members is invited to make a nomination for an MPLAN Pearl Award.
  4. There are no predetermined number of awards in any given year.

Criteria for Nomination(s)

  1. The award is given for Excellence in PLAR in Manitoba
  2. Nominations in all areas of PLA practice are invited including workplace/industry, community, education and government.
  3. Factors to be considered in making a nomination include, but are not limited to:
    • Commitment and promotion of PLAR;
    • Involvement in PLAR community;
    • Results achieved;
    • The developmental nature/value of the work;
    • Lasting benefits of the work, or potential for lasting benefits; and
    • Impact on the learner, the broader community and “systems” Innovation Sharing of expertise, research, resources Leadership Influencing “systems” and/or “government policy”.
